Have you called Jenny Craig yet?

Chilling in my crib...avoiding a nap!
Soleil is seven months old now! The race is on to see which word she will say first: Dada or Mama. I keep bribing her and every time she gets near Dada, I do something distracting!
She is not crawling yet, but is moving in that direction and rolls over constantly.
I caved in and gave her meat....YES, I DID! I had a little celebration deep inside when she did not take to it the first time...but, alas, that was short lived. She now eats chicken and turkey on a regular basis! Sorry, birds!
I am working 3 days a week tutoring kids at my old school and Soleil spends those days with Granny. Needless to say, she is spoiled and very happy.
(On a side note: Soleil is looking forward to the birth of a new friend, Brody! Hurry up and come already! )

Pumpkin and the pumpkin!

Daddy and I in pumpkin carving mode. We aren't immigrants anymore!!
I know it's supposed to be about the pumpkin, but....

Where do I start?

Daddy and I carved the pumpkin. Actually, he carved and I supervised. I'm a Bahamian, you know!! I'm going to get a government job....

Anyone notice the illegal amount of drool on my shirt?

AARRRRRR! I can be more frightening than a pumpkin!

Papa spent the day with Ricky and Soleil! Who knew you could lose so much hair in one day?

Papa and Soleil catching some rays.

It has been half a year since Soleil was born! We can hardly believe it! She has been such a joy that we don't know what we ever did without her! Much has happened in the last month. Soleil can now sit up on her own and apart from a few face plants, really enjoys it! She has already cut her bottom two teeth and will gnaw on anything within arms reach, including human flesh. She eats solid food three times a day and still takes her 5 bottles! She loves peaches, butternut squash, sweet potato and apple juice.

Soleil is quite the strong willed child (wonder where she got that from?) and still tries to rule the roost. She smiles and laughs often and loves dogs of all kinds. We go to Babytime at the local library once a week for story time. It is usually quite comical because its full of babies at various stages and moods. Soleil often babbles and squeals during the story and sometimes the whole group sings Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to quiet her down. That's my girl! We also go to the WeePlay Infant group, which is loads of fun. Let's just say that it involves bubbles, parachutes and mommies lifting (18lb) babies over their heads repeatedly! My arms have never known such exercise! How lucky I am!

Yes, Uncle Jon really is that tall!

Meeting Uncle Jon for the first time.
We are back in Brandon now after a 5 week trip to The Bahamas. Soleil spent lots of time with her Papi, Nana, and Papa and was spoiled rotten. She even flew to Nassau for a weekend to meet her Uncle Jon and hang out with Finn, Aunt Jen and Aunt Kristina. We took her to get her ears pierced and fortunately, Auntie Kristina held her while I cried in the corner!
Soleil is almost 5 months old now and weighs close to 18lbs. She is in the top 5% for her weight!! We tried solid food the other day....it was NOT a hit. The banana never made past her tongue and she wretched with every bite of cereal. Maybe she is not so much like her mother after all....
